Can you tell us about your early life, including your childhood and family background?
I was born on November 10, 1976, in Burdur, Türkiye. Growing up in a hardworking and education-focused family shaped my values. I have one older sister, and together, we were raised in an environment that emphasized responsibility, perseverance, and ambition—qualities that have guided me throughout my career.
What were the key influences in your formative years?
My family’s strong work ethic was a major influence on me. Additionally, early in my professional journey, a mentor in Antalya played a crucial role in shaping my leadership skills and entrepreneurial vision, encouraging me to aim higher and embrace opportunities.

What is your educational background and training?
Rather than following a traditional academic path, I gained hands-on experience in the office machinery sector. Over the years, I continually enhanced my expertise through workshops, technical training, and certifications, allowing me to build a successful career across multiple industries.
How did you choose your career path?
I started my career as a technician in 1992, working in the office machinery sector. My passion for technology and problem-solving naturally led me into this field. Over time, I diversified into other industries, including tourism, consulting, software development, and media, and even owned a newspaper and a radio broadcasting company.
What inspired your move to the US, and what were your initial experiences?
In 2018, I founded Özdemir Global LLC in Oklahoma. Moving to the US was both challenging and exciting. The country’s business-friendly environment and vast opportunities helped me adapt quickly and expand my ventures successfully.
Having traveled to 19 countries, which do you find most receptive to business?
The United States stands out as the most business-friendly country, offering a strong focus on innovation and growth. The United Kingdom also impressed me with its support for international entrepreneurs and expansive networking opportunities.
What made you decide to settle in the US?
My primary motivation was my children’s education and future opportunities. I have two sons, aged 22 and 12, and the US provided the best environment for their personal and academic growth. Additionally, I saw great potential for business expansion and career development.
Can you provide insights into the E-2 visa process? Any recommendations?
The E-2 visa allows entrepreneurs from treaty countries to invest and operate businesses in the US. My key recommendations include developing a comprehensive business plan, working with experienced immigration and business professionals, and exercising patience and persistence throughout the application process.
How many Turkish entrepreneurs have you helped establish businesses in the US?
So far, I have successfully assisted 55 Turkish business owners in setting up their ventures across various industries. It has been incredibly rewarding to help others achieve their dreams in the US.
What does the process of setting up a business in the US look like for Turkish entrepreneurs?
The process includes understanding the entrepreneur’s goals and industry, selecting the right business model, establishing legal structures and securing necessary permits, arranging financing options if needed, and setting up operations, marketing, and staffing. I have helped many entrepreneurs launch businesses in sectors such as food trailers, gift shops, cafés, and ice cream shops.

What has your experience been like working with the US military?
I have operated food trailers, gift shops, and printing services within military facilities. This work required strict adherence to security protocols and high-quality standards, making it a demanding yet highly rewarding experience.
What challenges have you faced, and what are some of your most memorable experiences?
Navigating a competitive business environment was challenging, but overcoming those obstacles was incredibly fulfilling. A memorable moment for me was opening my first US business and receiving overwhelming support from the local community.
How do Turkish businesses compare in success rates to other nationalities?
Turkish entrepreneurs are resilient and adaptable, which gives them a competitive advantage. However, to succeed, they must understand local market dynamics and build strong networks.
Which US regions are the most business-friendly for foreigners?
States like Texas, Florida, and Virginia, as well as parts of the Midwest, offer business-friendly policies, diverse populations, and strong economies, making them ideal locations for foreign entrepreneurs.
Could you tell us about your family life in the US and Türkiye?
I live in Delaware with my wife and two sons in a small village where we own our home. My family is my top priority, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential to me.
What hobbies and activities do you enjoy in your free time?
I love traveling, exploring nature, and spending quality time with my family. I also enjoy learning about emerging technologies and business trends to stay ahead in my field.
Could you describe your daily routine?
My day starts early, around 6:00 AM, with planning and organizing. Mornings are dedicated to strategic tasks and business management, while afternoons focus on meetings and consultations. Evenings are reserved for family time and reflection on the day’s progress.

My favorite quote is: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

My father was my greatest influence—his integrity, work ethic, and wisdom shaped my personal and professional values. Additionally, my first mentor in Antalya played a key role in my early career, guiding me toward strategic thinking and leadership.

Many people do not know that I have experience in software development, tourism, and media. These industries have given me a diverse perspective on business innovation.
What advice do you have for the Turkish-American community, particularly regarding investment opportunities?
I recommend focusing on high-growth sectors, such as technology, real estate, and franchising. The food industry, particularly mobile businesses like food trailers, is also a great entry point for newcomers. Staying informed, adaptable, and well-networked is key to long-term success.
